Shape your future with Steps to Success
We provide Jobs, Qualifications, Courses, Volunteering and Advice

One to One Support

We can give you support, guidance and careers advice on an individual basis to help you unlock your full potential, and make sure that the opportunities you access are right for you and your lifestyle. You can use the Steps To Success programme at any time, for as long as is needed for you to build up your confidence and skills to take on the working world.

Training

We offer a variety of free training courses at venues on your doorstep. These include short taster courses, which can help build your confidence at the beginning of your journey back to work, and more accredited courses and jobs skills workshops such as first aid, food safety and NVQ’s. We also run Helping Yourself to Health and Positive Steps courses, which are both tailored to your needs and can help motivate, inspire and boost your skills and confidence.

Bursary

We have a fund that customers can apply for to help pay for things that have a clear link to getting into work. These could include course fees, work uniforms, work related equipment and more.

Volunteering

We provide volunteering opportunities at Six Town Housing (STH) and within external organisations and community groups. Whether you want to volunteer in an animal sanctuary or in a care home, we can organise it and help you update you CV with your newly gained skills when you finish. It’s a great way of getting some experience in a working environment or on a worthwhile community project.

Work Placements

We offer 6 month voluntary work placements at STH in a variety of departments (including our repairs and maintenance and customer service team) with expenses paid. We also encourage local employers to offer work placements to give you some experience and the opportunity to gain a great reference for future employment.

Job Clubs

We run regular job clubs based in local communities offering weekly support and advice on how to find the right job for you. With support you can write or update your CV, write job application forms, access careers advice, brush up on interview skills and identify qualities and skills needed for the jobs you apply for.

Apprenticeships

We can help you find an apprenticeship that is right for you, through a variety of contacts and sources. We also offer apprentice opportunities within Six Town Housing and our contractors. If you are looking for a career and a qualification, this is a brilliant way to set yourself up.
