Clean-ups of canal / River Irwell, pruning and clearing pathways
Radcliffe, Greater Manchester
Manual work, enthusiastic to help out. All tools provided. Old clothes and sturdy footwear needed on clean-ups.
Little Britain Angler’s was set up by a group of anglers who want to preserve the River Irwell and the areas around it, including canals and waterways. The name comes from a rural area of land known as “Little Britain” in the 18th/19th century in the Redvales area of Bury, which is now made up of a housing estate and industrial units.
The group are looking for volunteers who can help ensure pathways and areas surrounding the river and canals are tidy. This includes clearing litter and ensure nearby trees and bushes are pruned to enable access. The role would suit somebody who likes working in the fresh air and is passionate about improving the local environment. Clean-ups are carried out during the week and occasionally on weekends.
